Malabar Tamarind
Malabar Tamarind (kudampuli) is a smoked, sun‑dried souring fruit used mainly in Kerala cuisine to give curries a deep, tangy flavour with a mild smoky note. The pieces are usually soaked in warm water and added to fish curries, sambar, rasam, and some vegetable stews instead of regular tamarind, and are sometimes also used in herbal drinks for digestion and traditional weight‑management remedies.
